LONG'I'ROCK MUSIC OPEN-AIR, DU 13 AU 15 MAI 2010
L'EVENEMENT 2010 - NEWSLETTER #3

Program

A line-up for all fans of rock, hard rock, punk and metal

inally there is a real stage for Hard Rock in Switzerland! Long'i'Rock Music Open-Air, a one-off event taking place in Longirod (Canton Vaud, Switzerland) from 13 to 15 May 2010, offers 3 days full of rock – hard, metal and alternative – and punk. Even though coming from nowhere, the festival was able to attract some of the biggest names: The Scorpions, Trust, Skunk Anansie and the Young Gods, to name but a few! The dream pursued by a group of inhabitants of Longirod is becoming a reality.

Last December Long'i'Rock Music Open Air rocked the world with the announcement that The Scorpions have chosen Longirod as the venue for their final concert in Switzerland. The festival became immediately more credible. Today, with the presentation of the full programme, one can only conclude that the organisers are realising their big dream and are staging an event that will elate a public hungry for pure rock concerts in Switzerland.

hursday 13 May, Ascension Day, Stage 1 will be cleared for the Spanish group Ska-P and their trade mark alternative punk followed by Skunk Anasie who, since last year, have been on a small world tour to announce their return to the scene and who"s next album will be released shortly after their stopover at Long'i'Rock. Stage 2 will be the scene for French power rock with Deportivo, a band influenced by Nirvana and Noir Désir and thus we can expect real fireworks! They will be followed by the Swiss bands Eluveitie, known for their death metal mixed with ancient folk melodies, and the "must-see" formation The Young Gods. The first night will be closed by the English band The Toy Dolls, who will release a new album this year to celebrate their 30 year career.

Trust celebrates their anniversary in Longirod
Friday Stage 1 will kick off the evening at 7pm with Arch Enemy, a band known for its raw metal rock and who"s latest album "The Root of All Evil" is dedicated to all their fans. Down, an American band from New Orleans, will take to the stage half way through the evening. This heavy metal band, currently working on its fourth album, will perform tracks from their powerful third release "Over and Under". Stage 1 will be closed this evening by Trust, celebrating their 30 year career, performing politically and socially engaging such as "Antisocial" and "Sarkoland".

Stage 2 will start at 4pm with Fatal Smile, a Swedish formation that takes hard rock in new directions, exciting but strangely familiar. Next up are Katatonia with their heavy atmospheric sound, performing tracks from their latest album "Night is the New Day". After these two Swedish groups the stage will be set for the Finnish metal band Ensiferum with its ever surprising rhythms and vocals. Last up are the Brazilians Soulfly who"s musical style ranges from pure metal to trash metal, intertwined with some Brazilian folk sounds.

The final Swiss concert of the Scorpions
The last night, Saturday 15 May, the festival closes with some real fireworks: The Scorpions! As was recently announced, this is their farewell tour so you have the unbelievable opportunity to see them one last time in Switzerland, and it will be at Long'i'Rock! But before, American Juliette Lewis will thrill festival-goers with tracks from her latest album "Terra Incognita" which was released last autumn. On Stage 2 the spotlight will first be on Café Bertrand, a French rock group who three years ago were the opening act for Deep Purple during their French tour. The American alternative Rock formation Nada Surf will next take to the stage playing mainly titles of their latest album "If I had a hi-fi". They will be followed by another American band, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who will perform tracks from their latest release (expected coming March) "Beat the Devil"s Tatoo" which sound is promised to come from everywhere and nowhere, from Texas to New York, like a long journey across the United States. Last up on Stage 2 the gypsy punk of Gogol Bordello, creating a mini festival within the festival!

Swiss bands will not be forgotten
Stage 3, also know as the Swiss stage, will give several regional rock groups the opportunity to promote themselves under excellent conditions. Every night 5 bands will share the stage. Amidst all Swiss bands we"ll find one French formation, No Place for Heroes (formerly Paradise Scream), who offer heavy rock and an original set.

Although the complete line-up is now known, two "special guests" will be announced shortly. They will appear on the big stage on Thursday and Saturday evening. And there is no doubt, Long'i'Rock will surprise its public yet again!

Special promotion
Until the 28th February 2010 festival-goers can buy tickets for a special price. Tickets for Thursday and Friday evening are available for just CHF 64,-, those for Saturday evening are on offer for CHF 74,-. The price for a three day pass is set at CHF 185,-. Tickets are available at Ticket Corner, FNAC and through the website of Long'i'Rock, www.longirock.ch.

After the first publication of the line-up December last year, announcing the unique concert of the Scorpions, and the second publication listing all Swiss bands, the tickets sales haven taken off. After 40 years in the music business and their latest album « Sting in the Tail », due to be released on March 19 2010, the world famous German formation The Scorpions will retire. If you want to be a part of their farewell world during their historic stop at Long'i'rock you should buy your tickets now!
